To enhance and subtly change the appearance of the finish prior to anodising, the aluminium may be Mechanically Textured or Chemically Pre-treated.
Mechanical Textures.
Beadblasting
A textured finish. The appearance can be varied to produce a very fine texture
through to a coarse 'industrial look' finish. Can be used in conjunction with
brightening to produce a subtle lustre.
Brushing
A popular textured finish particularly suitable for facias and enclosures.
Can be used in conjunction with beading, etching and brightening to vary the
appearance of the finish.
Note ! A very coarse brushed finish does not give a good key for printed
legends.

Polishing
A shiny finish achieved by mechanical hand polishing Not all alloys give
a good gloss when polished - please seek advice before selecting your alloy.
Chemical Pre-treatments.
Etching
Produces
a matt finish
Brightening
Produces a bright finish. Can be used in conjunction with mechanical
textures to vary the appearance of the component. Not all alloys brighten
well.
