Printing

"At Alpha Anodising we understand that the more services we can offer 'in house' the better it is for you, which is why we have a dedicated print shop."

We are well established experts at printing onto aluminium and our print shop can offer a number of print options. We are happy to discuss your pringing requirements, just contact us.

Epoxy Screen Printing

The most common method of printing letters and legends onto the surface of an aluminium substrate is screen printing using epoxy or other types of ink.

Alpha can even offer special ink colour formulations to ensure we produce a colour which suits your requirements.

Our specialist equipment includes an ‘ATMA’ semi automatic print machine to compliment our existing hand bench print facility. This enables us to offer competitive pricing on medium to large batches of epoxy screen print runs.

If you will require printing as part of your project, please speak to a member of our team to ensure you get the best advice.

ANOMARK Anodic Print

The anodic oxide coating produced by anodising is able to absorb inks and pigments during processing. ANOMARK anodic printing is a technique that uses this ability to produce indelible printing, vital for components that have instructions printed on them or even your logo. ANOMARK printing is available in a wide range of colours and multicolours on one work piece, offering a very attractive appearance.

Key ANOMARK Information

  • Indelibility  - The printing is resistant to abrasion to the printed nameplate specification British Standard BS4781 Part 2
  • Resistant to Solvents – The printing is resistant to all currently used solvents both chlorinated and hydrocarbon.
  • Resistance to Heat – The printing is resistant to heat up to 300°C.
  • Resistance to Moisture – The printing will withstand hot water at 100°C.

Pad Printing

As implied by the name, pad printing is an offset process using a flexible pad for image transfer to the substrate. An appropriate pad shape and hardness is required for the work piece in question, such that is will confirm to the irregularities of the surface. It is therefore possible to print onto non planar surfaces, such as convex or concave shapes. Given appropriate care in the plate manufacture and the choice of pad, print quality approaches that of a conventional screen print. Currently the print area is limited by the ink cup size, which is presently 65mm diameter at Alpha.

Cameo Anoprint

Cameo Anoprint provides raised anodic legends, chemically brightened if required, on a relieved background. The legends are available in a range of colours, and it is usual, but not essential, for the background to be matt natural anodised. This gives an interesting contrast in both texture and tone. As the product is anodised all over, it has good durability.
